OK, I cannot prove to you that there is a God, but can you prove to me that there isn't?

  • Who or what made the universe, the stars & planets, the animals & us? Was it all just an accident from a "big bang"? What was there before the big bang? Isn't that belief even more ridiculous than beleiving that there is a God?

  • Wiz, I'm curious... the other gods that you say are simply your god with a different name... are they also three part gods, or are they singular gods? And since you believe that everyone worships the same god, why do you even care what anyone else believes? If everyone calls the same god by a different name, then logically it should not matter whether one is Jew, Hindu, or atheist. Most religions teach that all good people earn a good reward in the afterlife, regardless of their beliefs. Atheists don't need to prove that there isn't a god, the lack of evidence for one speaks for itself. I can claim that the boogey man is sitting on your living room couch from now to eternity, but the fact that you can clearly see NO BOOGEY MAN anywhere, let alone on your couch, is all the evidence you need to dismiss my claim as nonsense.

Now, as for what made everything: itself. The universe created itself, and it did not do so for our benefit. You may want to ask someone why is it that man can not exist anywhere in the known universe EXEPT Earth. An intelligent designer would have designed us with the ability to survive on more than one planet (it would have known we were going to mess this one up).

  • So the way to think here is if there is something that you can't explain all you have to do is create something thats even harder to explain as the explanation for what you couldn't explain in the first place.

  • Not the best argument. Many atheists act on a "If I can't see it, then it must not exist" basis.

  • Well i believe its possible that there was a big bang. God spoke, and BANG! lol! thats big enough for me!

  • Ok which god am i disproving?

  • both are equally plausible since there is no proof either way. I assume that there is a creator, but not like anything we as humans could properly envision.

    cheers!

  • So, where was your god, before there was a universe??? Was he just hanging around, in a vacuum?
Did he come here from somewhere else?
What do you have if there is nothing, not even 'nothing'.
what you have is an enigma, and a stand off.
No energy for a Big bang Theory>>christians's opinion.
No god, to create anything,>>>> non believers' opinion.

And, you are making the statement, and asking the question, so it is up to YOU, to provide the proof, either way.

  • I believe in science. The only discipline which deals with absolutes is mathematics, science deals with hypotheses, which can either be reinforced by the next discovery or completely destroyed by it. The big bang THEORY is the best hypothesis based on the evidence we have gathered so far. Now I am prepared to accept that the next scientific discovery may provide fantastic evidence of the existence of god. I just personally believe that that possibility is so miniscule, so microscopic....that I don't consider it. The big bang theory is just the first tiny step on our journey of understanding the universe and, in a couple hundred years, our descendents could be laughing their heads off that we could be so DUMB. The knowledge and understanding we have yet to gain of this universe and our place in it is far greater than any 'god' our feeble brains could possibly conceive of. Science helps us reach this understanding and takes humanity on the voyage of discovery - belief in God demands that we become stagnant as history has shown.

  • I agree with you

Except a man be born again he can not see the kingdom of God

  • Just because I can't disprove the whole concept of a God, doesn't make it just as likely for it to be true or not. Can you prove that there isn't a flying spaghetti monster, a pink unicorn or a celestial teapot? Of course you can't. Does that mean that one is likely to exist? Of course it doesn't. Just because things cannot fully be explained scientifically, simply attributing everything to a being that you have no proof exists is just a cop out way of saying "I don't know." At least when scientists don't know, they come out and say it.

  • I think it is easier to prove there is a God than to prove there is no God. Just look at nature, Does anyone think this all "just happened"? Look at the order of the earth, the functioning of the plant life, bodies of water, the sun, the moon, the universe. Our calendar is based on The life and death of Jesus. Just because you can not see something, does not mean it does not exist. There is alot of microscopic life that we cannot see, but we can feel it. Having faith in God, you can feel his presence. Why do people blame God for everything bad that happens? He is not given credit for all the good that happens? Man and man alone are the architects of all the bad things that happen. The big bang theory, the darwin theory, and all the rest of the theories are a lot of bunk.

  • Can you define exactly what this God thing is so we at least have an idea of what we are supposed to prove does not exist.

  • you must be blind! The very order of the universe gives proof of God. Every living thing, from the grasses to humans give witness to the glory of God. Wake up and smell the flowers

  • The answer to your question is....
    READ SOME BOOKS.
Not just one book, but alot of books.
And quit sleeping through science class.

  • Can't really prove it either way. I agree with you personally that it makes more sense to believe in God and I have zero doubts about him.
    God bless.

  • Ever hear of the Null Hypothesis? In absence of evidence, the answer to any question is "no".

  • How dull this question is.

  • You cannot prove a negative.

We don't claim to have the answers. We are not afraid to say "I don't know." We don't think we have to be able able to answer all questions today. We don't need to assign it to a god or anything to rest at night. Admitting that you don't know is a good thing. It drives you to continue to look for answers.

And while we're on the topic... how was God created? If you say he just always was... then it's just as feasible to say that the universe always was.

    *drink*

  • I think you have hit the root of the quandary. Since you cannot make matter from nothing, there is no way to explain the big bang theory creating the universe, only that it may be the reason for it expanding. If there was a mass of something that exploded to create the bang, where did that mass come from? God canâ ™t be proved, only because we donâ ™t have proof, yet we may have evidence because we KNOW that something cannot come from nothing. GREAT QUESTION!!! That may be the closest to the proof we may ever get.

  • Nope. I don't think anybody can prove either.

  • you can't prove something doesn't exist. It's an logical impossiblity.
And just because something could exist doesn't mean it does.

  • The burden of proof is not on the person that doubts, the burden of proof is on the one that claims the existence of said god.

  • The argument from personal incredulity is probably the worst argument for the existence of a god.

  • Here's a better one ask an atheist to prove that Mars exists. Or even Oxygen. I have never seen Mars or Oxygen, heck I've never even seen Asia, South America, or Europe; does that mean that they do not exist. Oxygen is everywhere, but I cannot see or feel it. What is under the ground? How do I know anything is under the ground if I cannot see or feel it? Gravity may even be a better example, it is not seen.
    OUT

  • PEOPLE: GOD IS REAL!!!!!!!

  • I am a little confused to what you are asking in your question.
Because you then ask 4 other questions that would indicate you are interested in searching the " ridiculous " as it pertains
to the existence of a God.

I can only attempt to answer the first three questions.

    Answer to the first question.

    Who ?

The world's largest selling book the Bible is the world's largest selling book for a reason. People through secular history have also wanted to know " who " the God of the Bible is. The Bible at Palms 83:18 says that God's Name is
Jehovah. In any Bible. That is who.

    What.

Jehovah is Dynamic Energy in spirit form in another dimension. The first of all Creation was His Son Jesus.
Jesus is not God. Jesus had a beginning. He was a begotten
Son of God Jehovah. All things in the Universe were then created through the Son of God Jehovah. All things means all things. That includes ( in your question ) stars , planets, animals, and us.

    Big Bang accident ?

God does not do " accident. " Man does accidents. Jehovah God is a God of purpose. Everything in this Universe has a purpose. Including you and me.

    Before the Big Bang ?

The Big Bang is only a " theory. " No one knows for sure how the Universe was created. However having said that, you must try to understand that the Unniverse is endless. There is no such thing as Big in an endless universe. This is a very hard concept to grasp for sure ( impossible ) in endlessness.
" Big " does not apply. As a matter of fact " Big " diappears in the vastness of endless space. As you know light travels at 186,000 mile per second. To the edge of the known heavenly bodies that man has discovered so far and looking back in time ( light reaching earth from the heavenly bodies) to the beginnings of the known universe it would take you 4 billion light years to go to the known first heavenly bodies. 4 Billion light years ! Traveling at 186,000 miles per second ! The human mind cannot even begin to imagine the
power and magnitude that brought the universe into being. By whatever means.

Along the same lines of the human mind being able to comprehend things , take the propisition that God had no beginning and has no end. Mankind cannot think in those terms. Man thinks in terms of beginnings and ends.

Man was put on this earth for a purpose. The purpose for man on this beautiful earth was to live forever in a paradise
earth, be the caretaker of the earth, have families, and most importantly...love the True God Jehovah and give Him thanks in the name of His Son Jesus Christ.

The Bible states that after Satan and his followers are gone forever, new scrolls will be revieled to those who are the true worshipers of Jehovah and the Son Jesus Christ.

Sorry....but the proof you state you cannot " prove " about the exsistance of God is all around you. Look around. Look at the creation all around you. That is why the Bible says to have " faith. " Look up the meaning of faith and you will begin to understand that there is a True God named Jehovah.

  • No one can prove there is a God. But no one can prove there isn't. If you believe or not is all a matter of your faith and/or personal beliefs.
